The inaugural Maryland Right to Life Convention will take place this Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Gambrills, Maryland, bringing together pro-life advocates, faith leaders, grassroots organizers, and elected officials from across the state for a day focused on protecting life and strengthening support for families and communities.

Held near BWI Airport, the convention is expected to feature discussions centered on public policy, faith, community outreach, and practical support systems for women and children throughout Maryland.

Several members and officials of the Maryland Black Republican Council are scheduled to participate, including Delegate LaToya Nkongolo and Chairman Christopher Anderson. Their participation comes as conversations continue surrounding the disproportionate impact abortion has had on Baltimore’s inner-city communities and Black families throughout Maryland.

Featured Speakers and Advocates

Attendees will hear from a number of respected policy and legal advocates, including Jonathan M. Alexandre, Esq., Legislative Counsel for the Maryland Family Institute. Alexandre is known for his work in Annapolis, where he regularly testifies before legislative committees, engages lawmakers, and collaborates with coalition partners on family and life-related legislation.

Also featured is Laura Bogley, J.D., Executive Director of Maryland Right to Life and chief lobbyist for the organization at the Maryland General Assembly. With more than three decades of experience in government and the corporate sector, Bogley has become one of Maryland’s leading pro-life advocates.

The convention will additionally spotlight organizations and women’s centers that provide life-affirming alternatives and support services for mothers and families.

Among those organizations is Centro Tepeyac Women’s Center in Silver Spring, led by Executive Director Mary Cardoza. The fully bilingual pregnancy support center provides free and confidential counseling, resources, and assistance to women throughout Maryland and Washington, D.C.

A Focus Beyond Politics

Organizers say the convention is intended to provide citizens, community leaders, and Republican candidates an opportunity to better understand and communicate pro-life values with compassion, conviction, and clarity.

The event will also highlight practical ways communities can support women, children, and families beyond political debate, emphasizing long-term community engagement and support systems.
